South China Sea Tsunami Warning System

Venice November 13th, 2009
Envirtech has consigned two "Poseidon Class" systems to the State Oceanographic Administration
The system consists of two sea bottom devices to be deployed on a 3,000 meters depth and two SPAR BUOYS to be used as satellite relay units. Data transmitted will be collected at the control center in Beijing.  More ...

We designed effective, high reliability Tsunami Warning System starting registered tsunami after the Stromboli Volcano eruption in December 2002 (our TWS presentation for United Nation, ESCAP, Bangkok held in June 2005). The system  has been based on multisensor (both seismic wide spectrum, and pressure gauges) deep ocean platforms.
At present Envirtech manufacture two classes of devices: the Vulcan Class and the Poseidon Class.

Italian Data
Buoy Network

Envirtech deployed the 15th buoy of the  Italian Data Buoy Network, formerly known as "Rete Ondametrica Nazionale".
The new buoy has been moored off shore VENICE  (North East of ITALY in Adriatic Sea).

Vulcan Class are built around a broadband  Ocean Bottom Seismometer. To assure the best coupling between  sea bottom and the seismometer has been developed a special release mechanism. All the units are hosted in Titanium vessels. A special CPU, based on Arm technology,  has been developed to reduce power consumption to assure at least 2 years authonomy. High  rate sea bottom collected data  are transmitted to the surface buoy using an inductive modem coupled to the mooring line.   MORE ...

Venice Microwaves
Tide Station

It is fully operational the Envirtech microwaves tide station installed next the Malamocco gate to the Venice laguna. The station collects 12 samples/min of  tide level with no stilling well. Gathered data can be used to evaluate any kind of  low frequency sea motion inside the laguna and are published  on internet each hour. A couple of meteorological stations complete the settlement.  More ...

Envirtech

POSEIDON CLASS devices are ocean bottom devices able to collect very high accuracy and stable pressure data. At present the maximum operative depth is 5,000 meters. Collected data are transmitted in real time to a surface "SPAR" buoy via spread spectrum acoustic modem. The surface buoy relay received data to a control center via satellite.

Envirtech

We are  a private, European,  stock company based in Italy in 1999 to manufacture, deploy and maintain data acquisition networks on land, sea surface and sea bottom. We also provide engineering, projects, systems, ideas, information, software and solutions for global environmental problems. As global technological partner  we assist large companies and Governments to develop the best environment oriented solutions. Whatever is your geographic scale project we can solve it developing a tailored solution based on our worldwide recognized experience. More ...

About us

VULCAN CLASS devices are sea bottom laboratories able to collect many parameters and can be tailored on request adding any kind of transducers.

Please see video clips about the buoys deployments. The new Data Buoy Network, owned by ISPRA, the Institute for Environmental Protection and Research  consists of 15 oceanographic buoys deployed along italian shores. The buoys collect directional sea motion data, sea surface temperature, wind speed and direction, air pressure and humidity. Gathered data will be available on WMO GTS, via WEB and on the Italian teletext service (RAI-1) . More ...

THAI - Tsunami  Warning System

August 26th, 2010
Factory Acceptance Test has been successfully held in Venice at presence of a NDWC (National Disaster Warning Center) delegation. Have been tested the Envirtech Poseidon Class tsunameters, the Control Center software and Data buoys payloads. The Thai delegation also visited the Envirtech microwaves
tide station, some ISPRA (Italian Environment Agency)  settlements in Venice Lagoon and the INGV  earthquakes control room in Rome.

Envirtech SPAR buoy used to relay sea bottom data via satellite to a control center

SPAR BUOYS - Are tall, thin buoys that float upright in the water and are characterized by a small water plane area and a large mass. Because they tend to be stable ocean platforms, spar buoys are popular for making oceanographic measurements. In Envirtech ocean data acquisition systems, SPAR BUOYS are used to collect data from seabottom and to relay them using satellites, like Inmarsat, GOES, Iridium and so on.
