South China Sea
Tsunami Warning System

Venice November 13th, 2009
Envirtech has consigned two "Poseidon Class" systems to the State Oceanographic Administration
The system consists of two sea bottom devices to be deployed on a 3,000 meters depth and two SPAR BUOYS to be used as satellite relay units. Data transmitted will be collected at the control center in Beijing.

Venice Microwaves
Tide Station

It is fully operational the Envirtech microwaves tide station installed next the Malamocco gate to the Venice laguna. The station collects 12 samples/min of  tide level with no stilling well. Gathered data can be used to evaluate any kind of  low frequency sea motion inside the laguna and are published  on internet each hour. A couple of meteorological stations complete the settlement.  More ...

THAI TSUNAMI WARNING SYSTEM

As planned two Envirtech Tsunami-Buoys and related Poseidon Class Tsunameters have been deployed in Andaman Sea to improve the Thai Tsunami Warning System capabilities. Both systems are working properly transmitting real time data to the NDWC headquarter located in Bangkok. Bottom units have been deployed on seabed between 600 and 2600 meters depth, off-shore Phuket and Surin Islands, far enough to give time to raise an alarm in case of assessed tsunami approach. Collected data, actually under evaluation by the National Disaster Warning Center personnel, will be availble for free access to the international community via the WMO-GTS. Each sea bottom unit collects sea level with an accuracy of 1 mm per million and transmits it to the surface buoy via acoustic telemetry. Videoclip.

THAI TSUNAMI WARNING SYSTEM

Factory Acceptance Test has been successfully held in Venice at presence of a NDWC (National Disaster Warning Center) delegation. Have been tested the Envirtech Poseidon Class tsunameters, the Control Center software and Data buoys payloads. The Thai delegation also visited the Envirtech microwaves tide station, some ISPRA (Italian Environment Agency) settlements in Venice Lagoon and the INGV earthquakes control room in Rome.

The 15th buoy, the last,  of the Italian Data Buoy Network has been deployed

The Italian Network has been completed. The last one has been moored off  Venice lagoon. The network consists of 15 buoys moored around the Italian coasts on a seabed depth of about 100 meters. Buoys displacement is around 700 Kg. All buoys implement Barometric pressure, wind speed and direction gauges as well as directional waves sensors. Collected data are transmitted via WMO-GTS every 3 hours. Data are also available on the web every 30 minutes  and via  the Italian Broadcast Television RAI-1 Channel,  teletext service - Page 719. THE SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL WORKSHOP OF THE DATA BUOY COOPERATION PANEL (DBCP) XXV

Envirtech presented to the most qualified international community the new buoy Envirtech MKI for sea waves measurement based on innovative MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology.
The buoy is equipped with meteorological sensors, CTD sensor, main radio link and satellite modem as back up communication system. The same buoy can integrate a surface acoustic modem to interface underwater modules (UM). The main UM developed by Envirtech is the POSEIDON system to monitor tsunami waves from 100mwd to 6000mwd. The presentation will be focused on the main innovative technological aspects of the buoy and the POSEIDON class tsunameters and will illustrate samples of real acquired data in Mediterranean sea and in Indian Ocean.
